This car is very reliable and easy to drive if a little unexciting. It's a pity vauxhall do not improve build quality

Vauxhall Astras are good cars. Mine is quite old and high mileage - I bought it as a stop gap measure when my old car a Corsa was written off in a flash flood in a car park. It will be replaced with a newer model as soon as I have the funds available.

Vauxhall have not made an ugly or unreliable car i will always choose vauxhall very good reliable car plenty of boot space and very good prices.

I have been used to driving bigger and more powerful cars in the past and only purchased this as I needed to economise for a few years. I have not been disappointed. Although it is a small car it feels like you are driving something much bigger. There is plenty of space in the front and enough space to fit 3 in the back. I was a bit concerned about the size of the boot initially but it has never hampered me and I have only needed to put the back seats down once due to impulsively buying a rather large tree! It drives very well and I feel totally confident and safe when driving in hazardous conditions. My only criticism would be it's difficulty in getting up big hills very fast. But this is such a minor point. This is the only time I notice that I am driving a small car. It also comes with 0% finance, unlimited warranty and you don't have to pay for road tax. It is pretty economical too as I can usually get 450 miles to a tank of petrol. I would definitely recommend this car.

I've had my car for four years. Beige. It has done 28,000 miles. I bought it just before it was due for its first MOT. I've maintained it properly with regular servicing at the correct periods. A full service history is available. I average a low annual mileage (6000). It is kept in a garage overnight and the bodywork is in excellent condition, no rust. Apart from new tyres I have had no major maintenance costs. It is worth around £6000.

Good car happy with make and model

My Astra is automatic which makes it very expensive to use in towns and cities, I get about 28 miles to the gallon around town. On longer runs using motorways however, it does about 38 miles to the gallon which, considering it's age, isn't bad, (my car is 13 years old this year). The car is comfortable to drive and I have driven it all over the south of England and not felt uncomfortable or tired. As I am a bit of a DIY'er I have used the fact that you can fold the rear seats down to fit things in on many occasions. I can fit timber of up to 2.4 metres in length in the car with no problem. When my car is in full working order it has good acceleration and stops quickly. Unfortunately, at the moment there is a problem with it, stalling at idle, a half a second delay when you put your foot on the accelerator and rough running, still I suppose that you have to expect problems with a car that is 13 years old.

The Vauxhall Astra Estate was purchased as a serviceable vehicle to not only be the main family car but to cover other activities. As beekeepers and allotment holders the capacity of the estate was ideal for conveying all the necessary equipment for the the above. It was easy to convert and has a reasonable round town fuel consumption.

best car I've ever owned, reliable, cheap to run and service, practical and well built with excellent fuel economy even now at heading towards 13 years old, still polishes up well despite being red, no sign of any major bodywork corrosion, still drives very well, achieves well over 40mpg on longer runs on motorways etc..and still comfortable to drive longer distances.

I am driving my second Vauxhall Astra and next year hope to purchase another Astra. This car has been superb for me. Reliable and comfortable with low running costs. I would recommend the Astra for it's reliability and performance.

I have owned and driven this model, purchased 2nd hand, for the last two years. The car is of average performance, having previously owned Jaguars, but drives well and positively and is quite economical. It has suffered no major repair work and always starts easily and is extremely reliable. There has never been a problem with securing the few replacement parts when needed and appears to be quite easy to carry out any work or servicing. The car is simply styled and it offers adequate but effective comfort. Dials are laid out well but the inclusion of a temperature gauge would have been useful.

This is my fifth Vauxhall Astra. The capacity for load is phenomenal. Travelled all the way to northern Holland with a boat on the roof, sails and foils inside the car along with sailing bags and a passenger last year. The driver's seat has become uncomfortable following a hip replacement 9 months ago and I am therefore having to change to an automatic. It has been serviced annually prior to MOT and has been most reliable. Mileage is 111,500 miles - I reckon it will go on for another 50,000. An unassuming car.

Love my Astra estate plenty of room as I'm registered disabled and wheelchair fits well in the boot good running costs overall everything I want in a car

Great workhorse

Comfortable, economic an ideal car for our needs at this time. It enables us to travel longer distances but is economical enough for local shopping and visiting trips. It is dealer maintained which is more expensive than garage maintenance but I like to feel the correct parts have been fitted. The dealership has contact with computer information about the range of cars which means any updated engine management details can be used to adjust the settings on my car.
