stylish and reliable. Always check under the battery tray for blocked drain plugs and check the cabin filter housing for perished gasket and make sure it is fully sealed. This a common problem with Passats, as rain ingress can come into the car and ruin the electrics.

Bought my Passat about 4 years ago, it is very economical, reliable and comfortable and I wouldn't change it only for a more recent model. although 9 years old it has only completed 52000 miles so is good for another 20 years.

Far too much tech and start/stop is very irritating in traffic as you will never know if your car has cut out only if you look at the dashboard and see a problem light.

My car is my work horse, constant use and always full to the brim. But always comfortable.

The VW Passat is a safe, reliable, comfortable and spacious saloon. Fuel consumption exceeds 45mpg for the 2L diesel model, measured over 5 years and 60,000 miles. Despite the emissions scandal in the USA it is a car that I am very happy with and I would be comfortable buying another VW Passat diesel if/when I'm ready to change. Long journeys are done with ease and it cruises well on motorways.

The Passat estate is great for space and comfort. Is pleasant to drive but not exciting. But is let down by its reliability. I had to have the gearbox changed and the boot wouldn't lock one of the warning signs broke and had to be replaced. I would expect better from a 4 year old car.

Good solid car, well built, rust free after 12 years, Very economical, quiet, loads of torque. Tows well, big and practical. Tyres and spares not too expensive. Now done 167,000 miles, just had a major - major service -new clutch and dual mass flywheel (first one) also camshaft replaced. Still drives like a new car. Leather front seats starting to show their age.

I have had this car from new and am extremely satisfied with its performance and reliability. I would definitely replace it with the same model.

The VW emission scandal has occurred and I realise that my car is emitting more NOx than is thought safe in America and other countries in the world. The idea that we fix the cheating software to show the correct emission level does not correct the fact that the car is emitting dangerous substances at levels higher than some countries consider unlawful.

I bought a very elderly VW Passat last year for just £350 and it's been the best second had car I've ever owned. It's comfortable, reliable and cheap to run. I've covered over 10,000 miles in it in the last year with no breakdowns and it's gone through its MOT for just a few hundred quid's worth of repairs. An excellent car and I will definitely get another if this one ever gives up (it's done over 190k miles, still going strong).

This is my fourth VW estate, and it beats the others hands down. Very comfortable, about 56 mpg, £20 road tax. Great car!
