Having previously owned from new a Golf mk5 followed by a Golf mk6 I consider the Ford to be equal if not better (certainly in the case of the Mk 6 Golf) to the VWs. I get frustrated when I still read reviews raving about the VWs when you soon find where they have cut corners to keep the price down. I love the Focus it's only short coming is the size of the boot. If they increase it on the new model which is due next year I shall buy another.

The car is very practical, running costs are low and road tax is only £30 for the year, BUT - dont expect a great performing car from a stand still, the lower gears are very sluggish until you get the car up to speed. Kyle

My Ford Focus estate has been hard to beat for reliability, it's 13 years old and just keeps going. Lots of space with the estate, extemely useful for bikes and kit. Tow bar has also come into its own when needed. Performance has been more than adequate. A great workhorse and would like another just the same.

Whilst I have a love of Ford's, especially the Focus ( I have had two), I keep being mistreated by them. This Focus was bought 3 year ago, just after it's first MOT. It ran brilliantly for a couple of months before I had a turbo fault, after which the car smoked whenever I had to heavily accelerate (something any diesel car owner will tell you is a necessity.) It turns out that this was in part due to a hose which needed replacing, but it opened my eyes to just how expensive repairs on a diesel are. I would say that anyone wanting a diesel should do so under caution, and only if they do the motorway miles. Whilst I average 50 mpg doing around 15 miles each way too and from work, I can get a much higher MPG on the motorway, with less smoke! Negative aside I still love the smooth ride, the style of the car and the way that it drives overall. I love the spacious boot (especially with a 3 month old baby) and the fact that I managed to fit an entire bed in the car with some maneuvering the other day! Be aware though that if you DO have babies you may end up having to buy a base for their car seat as the Focus has incredibly short seatbelt length, meaning you can't just belt in most model car seats.

Hi, Bought the new Ford Focus 1.0 hatch last year.. Have nothing but praise for the car. The car is large enough for most, if not all jobs. The get up and go is very good, the fuel economy is excellent. I would and have told anyone who will listen about the car and it's virtues.

Our Ford Focus Estate has been a good reliable car for us. It is pleasure to drive (I do love Ford gears) and it holds the road well. It is not the cheapest of cars to run and to be honest is not the most comfortable car for sitting in the back seats.

I've had this car for 3 years now and find it reliable and cheap to run. It's not the prettiest car on the block, but for mpg and daily journeys it fits the bill. I'd recommend this car to anyone.

It is the most expensive car I have owned. It was secondhand when I got it. I have spent more on it than I thought I should do to keep it on the road. I am retired and do not use it a lot. I will probably go for a Japanese - Deisel soon.

Ford Focus Zetec 1600cc a practical car with a functional interior offering 4+1 seats, rear folds down to add more boot space.1600cc powerplant is not quite man enough in my opinion, however is not a thirsty beast and along with inexpensive insurance and cheap as chips maintainence this model suits me well.Oh and for someone who has back problems the drivers seat is ideal in height to be able to slide onto.

Comfortable drive matches my previous car, a focus 170ST. only criticism is the visual gear change up which is not always appropriate to the driving conditions even if it is based on the computer criteria. I am a Ford Financial pensioner and have mostly driven Fords in the past.

One if the best cars I have owned. Very practical and still looks neat given its age. Keeps running well despite its 195000 miles. Have spent very little on repairs and maintenance in the 7 years of ownership.

A couple years back I was in the mood to change the car. I've always driven my cars to the recycling plant so the old Rover 420 (which was a great car) had to go. Being middle aged and never having had a convertible before I decided to treat myself to something different. Now I have had a few cars in my time but none have exhilarated me like the Focus CC when I put the boot down. Its a comfortable sporty car that looks just beautiful. Every time I drive it with the roof down I feel something I've never felt with any of my other cars. It has its faults and things that annoy me and some of the horror stories can put you off but this is my all time favorite car of them all. Fact is when i change next year it will just have to be another convertible.

A good solid car and largely reliable. Fuel consumption in urban areas is poor and much less than anticipated. On the open road it performs as expected with regard to fuel efficiency. So better on long runs. In saying that, I am very happy with it and maybe the newer models will have better fuel efficiency in urban areas.

I have covered a lot of miles in a very short time in this car. Over all, I am very happy with it, as it is much cheaper to buy than a comparable VW Golf, even if the build quality is not as good. I had hoped to get better Mpg, I have averaged 48.3 over 12000 miles, with a high of 54.9 Mpg on a long motorway run, and a low of 43 Mpg around town. This is probably due in part to the 18 inch wheels on the S model. I am sure the econetic wheel size would save fuel. It is a well equipped car, and great value for money if you buy one nearly new.

Although old it runs well even with nearly 130000 miles on the clock. Its comfortable and spacious for what is required. At time of replacement another similar will definitely be considered.

I find the Focus reliable and comfortable over long journeys. It has good acceleration and holds the road well. It's fuel consumption could be better but I manage to achieve app. 40+ miles per. Gallon on a long run (usually over 200 miles). which I consider quite good for an Automatic.

An excellent performer for a large car and very economical.
