Although it can be expensive to run (+/- 20mpg) on short journies because I am retired my regular trip tend be short. The jaguar I find to be extremely comfortable and a delight to drive.

Over & above scheduled servicing this car has been fairly costly since purchasing it in 2005. Duel mass flywheel & clutch Front wheel discs & pads twice Front Suspension arms both sides Fuel filter 5 sets of tyres Wheel bearings front miles traveled 17k when bought, current 120k. Last service (October 2013) informed inner sills rotted & will not pass MOT unless renewed. Cost expected to be between £1000 & £1500. Is it worth it ?

I have kept this car longer than any other by a large margin. The original parts are still in place.I have an annual service. The car has covered 25000 miles and i still would not part with it.

Trustworthy, dependable, great mileage and it still gets looks on the road. Had very few problems since 2004. Servicing is brilliant and I would always go for Jaguar diesel.

Great car to get me comfortably between petrol station as the fuel economy is the only downside

When needing to upgrade a very old 2nd car, I went for a second hand jag to be the first car, I have never owned a car as luxurious, have had a stream of very reliable escorts/fiestas in the past. I am delighted with the car; it has renewed a joy in driving that I had not had since my twenties. The car coast a fortune in fuel, by comparison, however.

I purchased my Jaguar X Type 2.0Estate four years ago, at the time of purchase it had 66000miles on the clock, I have since covered a further 28000 miles. Until this year I have had no mechanical problems recently I have had to change an EGR valve that was six months ago. Last week the glow plug warning light came on accompanied by a loss of power, this was diagnosed by my excellent local garage as an " over boost" they removed the turbo and cleaned it ,this fortunately for my pocket seems to have worked. I find the car economical, roomy,it can carry an amazing amount, it is a joy to drive and I find it very comfortable to drive ,although my wife tells me that it could do with more leg room in the back . I am 78 years old and have no problems with driving the car. Yet!!!

Great car. Comfortable, reliable and reasonably cheap to run. Only gripe would be no rear window wiper as it is a saloon.

After about 25years of sports coupes, I decided it was time to go for comfort, ease of access, all-wheel drive and commodious boot.

I have owned this car for almost 2 years and until this week it has never missed a beat, Unfortunately I have just had to purchase an EGR Valve today at £167+VAT which I believe is a fairly common problem, The car has done 47000 miles from new and I only do about 5000 miles a year.It cost £11000 which at 3 years old was about half its original cost and it was immaculate with 36000 miles on the clock with FSH.It has all the things I would look for in a motor car and would recommend it to other people definitely.

This car provides me with virtually everything I need from a motor vehicle. It is comfortable and economical on long runs. It has sufficient performance for my style of driving with a good reserve of power for overtaking. It has enough room for two but is a little cramped in the rear with front seats well back. I find it easy to manoeuvre in car parks due to its medium/reasonable compact size.

I bought my car 2nd hand in October 2008 from a Jaguar dealer in part exchange. We chose this car as a retirement gift to ourselves and my wife wanted leather unholstery and I wanted an automatic having always had a manual. I had Mondeos up to then and liked the idea that the X type was built on the same chasis although the ride is different. We have enjoyed the comfort albeit we we only do some 4k a year mainly for weekly shopping, a couple of 2/3 days breaks and visiting relations 100 miles away. We have the car serviced every two years by the dealer and found them very effecient although costly but that comes with the make! I use the cruise control quite a lot as it makes me more aware of whats going on as one needs to read the road more. I have split back seats which allows me to buy long items being a keen DIYer and gardener. I like using the auto box when on holiday if we're driving in mountainous areas and find it easy and responsive. I have driven automatics in the past having been a transport manager but owning my own in retirement makes for easiers driving and allows you to concentrate more on the road. Whether I can aford to buy another Jaguar remains to be seen

The car i have now is around 10 years old. I have owned it for approx 9 years. It is comfortable and very reliable as it has never let me down. I only drive approx 2500 miles per annum but have it serviced annually at the Jaguar / Landrover garage. It has been a good car for me

I bought this car after I retired from full time occupation and was able to afford a Jaguar, a marque that I always admired. This car was an affordable alternative to an S type. However I am very pleased with its looks, performance, handling and economy. It still returns a good 45mpg on a combined journey.

ALL THE COMFORT, PERFORMANCE, ETC. ETC. YOU WOULD EXPECT FROM A JAGUAR. MY ESTATE (I PREFER TO CALL IT A STRETCHED HATCHBACK)HAS NEVER LET ME DOWN. BUT .....WHY DID I BUY A HORRIBLE RATTLING DIESEL ENGINE WHEN I DO LESS THAN 5000 MILES A YEAR ???? A JAG SHOULD ONLY EVER BE PETROL POWERED.

So far very reliable, extremely comfortable, good all wheel drive in snow, reasonably economical considering engine size 26 - 36 mpg.

Best car I have ever owned. Extremely reliable, very comfortable, silky smooth ride. A little bit thirsty for petrol but otherwise running costs have been very reasonable. Now getting a bit long in the tooth but reluctant to sell.

Not the most exciting drive and some niggles but very good value

The same size and price of a Mondeo but a lot more 'bang for your buck'. I particularly like the heated front windows. No more scraping on frosty mornings. A bit thirsty but very comfortable.
