I would recommend my car to folks, as it has lots of space and little compartments. It is good on petrol too. Insurance is cheap too. It was a good buy.

After dozens of initial problems (Friday afternoon car) we have been really pleased with our Megane. We bought it when it was about 6 mths old and have had it for 10 years. It doesn't do a lot of miles but has been generally reliable. My only gripe is the high tax each year. Why aren't cars tested for emissions at the MOT and taxed according to what they actually output -- not on what a manufacturer claims they output?

my car is very comfortable to drive and has room for long legged passengers I just wish that the electrics controlling lights and wipers were not so expensive to fix

Had this car for 8 and a half years, apart from fuel coils (which seem a common fault) and a recent belt tension collapse (again must be common) as replacement can be bought as a kit complete with new belt I have had very good service from this vehicle considering its use being a hatchback.

Overall I preferred my old megane - old S reg. The new one is not as economical as I thought it would be. There are a few annoying rattles which were never solved in the warranty period. Reversing is not easy as the rear window configuration gives poor visibility. It is noisier than my old diesel Clio. The rear seat head rests are not comfy. The automatic lights irritate me. On the plus side, it's reliable, zippy, is a good drive, with good manoeuvrability and relatively good handling in snow. The front seats are comfortable - radio and heating both work well. I still like its shape and styling.

We have enjoyed this car which has been trouble free except for an expensive failure of the hard -top operating mechanism, and a failure of the keyless locking system. It is however very limited in the back-seat space. As a tall driver I leave zero leg room for a back-seat passenger. It performs well-enough and is economical on fuel usage.

Yes I know it's a Renault and they break occasionally, but the Magane dci is quite pleasant to live with. With 100 bhp the performance is adequate, it is comfortable on long journeys with ample space for passengers and luggage, air-con and all the toys add to the comfort of journeys. Running costs are reasonable with £35 a year road tax and 70 mpg. Although things like ball joints, brakes and suspension parts fail more often than other makes of car, this Megane has so far not broken down at the side of the road. We have had the car for over two years now and it has covered 150,000 miles in total and still runs fine. If only Renault would fit Japanese quality suspension components it would be far more reliable, although springs breaking could be largely due to the amount the roads are breaking up. I am not a lover of Renaults but I have to admit that this car is practical, suits our needs and is easy to live with, and if it does breakdown, well I am a member of the AA.

The car, a 2005 Renault Megane 1.5dci Sport Tourer, was an ex lease car when purchased, with over 100,000 miles on in 3 years. I have had all six MOT tests done, with the only faults found being being headlight alignment once and a faulty bulb once. The car has now covered 136,000 miles, and still gives 45 to 50 mpg normally, which is for generally short journeys, my annual milage being around 5,000 miles. On longer journeys, the best I have seen on the car computer has been 83mpg between Rochdale and York, using the M62 over the Pennines. 70+ mpg is not uncommon on motorways, generally at 60 to 70 mph. The car is quite comfortable, whatever the distance, and is reasonably quiet. The longest journey has been around 250 miles to a holiday destination, local driving of around 100 miles, and returning a week later, no problems, and around 65 mpg. Problems have however occurred. The air con is not functioning for the second time, the first time costing around £250 to repair. A spilt pipe in the engine compartment resulted in a cost of around £500. The window washer motor has been replaced, the back window washer having failed, and a rear electric window has failed. Overall, the car has never broken down leaving me stranded, and for the milage has performed well enough for me to consider a newer version of the same model as a replacement, although my driving requirements may be better served by less economical petrol next time, as dpf units in diesels do not like low milage use.

My Renault Megane is very quick and exceptionally maneuverable. Upon first driving it I was impressed with how quick and full of energy it was. My father was also won over, by its performance and congratulated me on my research and choice. Despite my initial indecision on whether I liked the look of the car, it's appeal grew on me and I was later to realise just how good the car was with respect to handling and safety. In 2012 my father became very ill and was confined to bed at St Peters Hospital. Further to that issues at work were becoming increasingly difficult and I felt it was only a matter of time before I was dismissed. One day I was called into the hospital to receive word that my father's condition had worsened and the doctors believed nothing more could be done for him. I was told that my father was dying. Upon driving home my head was spinning with everything that was happening and for a brief moment my concentration slipped. I failed to notice the road I was driving on was undergoing resurfacing work and I suddenly found the car had lost grip and had begun to career off the road. In an instant I had to take back control of the car and save it from the scrap heap. I did so despite spinning 180 degrees in the attempt. As a driver I was at fault, but I could not fault my car! The only negative thing I can say about my car is that mechanics can't stand working on it! They swear and curse whenever they have to access a faulty part or change a light.

I have had this car for about 4 months now and I have not had any problems so far. The only complaint I would have is that you can't achieve anything close to the claimed miles per gallon which was one of the reasons for buying the car in the first place.

I have now owned this car for 12 years and it has quite literally taken me the length and breadth of the country. I have been to Lands End and John O' Groats. I have been down most of the east coast and even been across the Irish Sea to the west coast of Ireland. The car has always been very reliable, an excellent starter and has cost very little when the dreaded MOT tests have come round. The car has served me well and there has been plenty of room for a family of 5.

Nice car very comfortable and economical. The opportunity to open the roof this summer was excellent. The only criticism is the lack of body mouldings as I have received dents at the local supermarket which could have been prevented.
