No major problems with this car. Has not let me down yet. Small annoyances are: pockets in doors a little too small, screen struggles to demist when it is raining - not enough air directed at the windscreen. Cannot drive with windows open to far down as very noisy. Had same problem when I had an Octavia. Mechanically no problems.

I have found the Fabia to be extremely reliable and robust. What it lacks in style it amply makes up for in space space for provides for all my needs and feels very robust and safe to travel in. I would recommend this car to others

A good car for several years, but I'm now being forced to get rid of it. After being very reliable for 6 years, suddenly everything started wearing out at once: radiator, brakes, steering, pedals(!). The local Skoda garage was seeing more of it than I was, so I've decided it is time to move on. I hope I can find something that is as good to drive.

Overall this has been a good car. The only downside is that it is a bit underpowered when fully loaded - ie with four passengers and/or a heavy load. I was also not impressed by the standards of servicing at local Skoda dealerships (it was bought in a different area which was much better). Independent garages locally have been much more helpful and have been much more trustworthy (or at least given that impression).

Ticks all the boxes; best car we've ever had.

Although getting on a bit, the old Fabia has done me very well. A large amount of space in the rear with the seats down. Repairs have been mostly just down to wear and tear over the years having reached 120,000 miles. Solid feel to drive. Would definitely consider another when this one has passed its time.

Bought my first Fabia about a year ago and have had no regrets about swapping it for my previous X type Jaguar estate (which I dearly loved). The Fabia has proved not only economical (almost 60 mpg with care and £30 VED) but remarkably nippy and pleasant to drive. My only regret is that I bought the hatchback and not an estate. Skoda service at the local main dealer (Silbury at Cramlington) has been superb.

I bought the car second hand from a Skoda main dealer 6 years ago. The current mileage is around 55-56000. I haven't had any major problems but there have been a number of minor issues. Perhaps the most serious was a seat belt failing to retract properly. My wife's Fabia Estate bought new in 2003 also had a seat belt failing to retract properly which makes me wonder if there is was a design/manufacturing fault. The seat belts had to be replaced. Another fault on both cars was significant damp on the floor. The Skoda dealer said words to the effect that this could happen if water seeped into the door between the door window and the seal and the back door wasn't opened very often. Extra sealant has been added (at our expense) which seems to have solved the problem. Concerning the control layout, the ventilation controls are below the audio unit and not always easy to see while driving. The layout would be better if the audio and ventilation controls were interchanged, which I believe has been done on the 2007 model. I've no plans to replace the car but my choice would be based on independent review and not necessarily another Skoda - there's plenty of competition. Verdict: OK but not outstanding.

This is affordable for us. It is the 3rd Fabia we have owned which means that we have been very happy with these cars. The passenger seat has been improved since we had the first on. The height gives a more comfortable ride and easy access for older people. My husband deals with other aspects of the car and he is happy with those.

My Fabia Estate still drives like new, is very economical (55mpg average over 96,000miles), and has a large load space. The only faults it has had are a power assisted steering rate sensor (fixed) and a current air-con sensor (not economical to fix). It has had one battery change. It has been service regularly by the same small dealership that I bought it from (no longer Skoda. No other car I have owned or driven since passing my test in 1966 has been as good.

The car is very comfortable, economical to run and has a good turn of speed when necessary. I am delighted with it .

Skoda Fabia is an energetic little workhorse, practical and good value as well as friendly to drivers. Even better, get one with a turbo.

I don't use the car for commuting, and only do about 5000 miles per year (8000Km in new money)mixed local and distance driving. The tank hold about 40 litres, and I get roughly 250 miles from this. Replacement parts when needed come from the standard VW selection, and although the car's internal finishes leave something to be desired, it is/was still excellent value for money. Despite it being nearly 12 years old, and thought to be a "cheap" car, I have no intention to replace it soon. If and when I do it will most probably be for the same badge/model.

Downsized from a Citroen C5. The car is used for personal transport- shopping etc and work as outdoor activity provider, Less space than the C5 but I can still carry all my equipment and still carry a 16ft open canoe on the roof. Travelling costs are much reduced and can still travel long distances in comfort.
