interior space not perfect, glove locker odd shape restricted to what can be stowed away. nowhere to store cds neatly (don't want to them stored in door). Rattles in roof lining like cables continually tapping, fed up with passengers remarking about it. Really concerned about not having a spare wheel!,really puts me off long distances or night driving, could probably change a normal spare wheel, but use a chemical container at night, I don't think so. would never ever buy another car without a spare.

Had my Astra from new. Very happy with performance, running costs, comfort, reliability & space / practicality. It's not a sports car or a luxury car but it serves its purpose and suits me.

My year 2000 Vauxhall Astra was bought by me when it was a year old. It has been regularly serviced over this time and has always been most reliable. Only one hiccub was that the keyfob electronics played up, essentially immobilising the car, and I have had to resort to the spare key. So, not bad after over 12 years really.

I have had this car from new , a low mileage user, regularly serviced by myself ( having a reasonable amount of experience in the motor trade)now serviced by a main Vauxhall agent,( due to MY age ). I have never regreted the day I purchased this car,it has given myself, wife and family years of pleasure and enjoyment, it is almost a member of the family !!!.

This is my 4th Astra and I am very happy with it as it totally suits my need

Only issue is the 1.7 is a little low on power, so hills and motorway over takes need lots of distance and time. Can't moan about the fuel economy, insurance or road tax, great family car as I have two kids. Plenty of room for the other halfs shopping, double pushchair and baby bags :)

My vauxhall is top of the line which makes for a very comfortable, pleasurable ride. Realiable and lots of space for 2 mountain bikes in the back.

I HAVE DRIVEN Vauxhall CARS FOR OVER 25 YEARS AND ALWAYS FOUND THEM RELIABLE. I DON'T DO MUCH MILEAGE NOW BUT THE PRESENT ASTRA (REG 2000)PASSES ITS MOT EACH YEAR. I HAVE THE SAME MECHANIC LOOKING AFTER ANY REPAIRS. ITS MAIN FEATURES ARE FOUR DOOR, THREE SEATS AT BACK AND PLENTY OF BOOT SPACE. AN ADVANTAGE TO ME IS IT IS NOT FULL OF ELECTRONIC GISMOS SO WHEN IT GOES WRONG WE KNOW WHAT TO DO AT REASONABLE COST.

I have been disappointed with my Vauxhall Astra purchased new. The sensors are constantly indicating problems with the car and the garage staff seem very poorly trained in dealing with this. I have had a number of Vauxhall vehicles but this has been by far the worst, although being the most expensive.

Overall, this is a good, reliable vehicle which I have kept longer than any other car in the past (now done 60,000 miles). It has never broken down (touch wood!) and has passed all MOTs without too much needing done. Only problems have been with the rear screen washer which had to be replaced, and the air con which needed re-charged every Spring until this year when it gave out one week after being re-charged so I concluded that there was probably a leak in the system. Having read on the Internet that such leaks are difficult to trace, and therefore expensive for a garage to undertake, I elected to live without the facility and just drive with the windows open on the few hot days we get in this country!

I have found the Vauxhall Astra to be a comfortable, spacious and reliable car.

This is the latest in a long line of Astra's that I have owned and driven. The immediate predecessor I had for 13 years/160,000 miles with no problems. This latest model has one particular annoying design flaw with the indicators and their cancelling. When selected to indicate a turn the arm returns to the neutral position and it is impossible to tell from the feel of the arm whether it is in the indicating position. There have been numerous occasions after a turn where the indicator has not cancelled when expected, and where I have cancelled it manually and ended up selecting the opposite indicator because the arm has no 'feel'. The fuel consumption is slightly worse than the previous car, I expected it to have been the same or better. The car runs fine but the engine management light is on continuously and despite numerous attempts the garage is unable to cure this defect. This is the latest in a long line of niggles I have had with this car. So although overall it performs as expected I am left wondering if it is going to let me down unexpectedly.

The 1.4 Astra I have is a little under powered I will look around for a 1.6 / 1.8 for my next car

Great car, easy to drive and very reliable. Hasn't needed much in the way of repairs beyond usual like tyres, brake shoes battery etc which is to be expected in a car that is 18 years old. Would only change it for a newer model that went further to the gallon and was cheaper to insure and tax and generally greener.

good old solid built vauxhall

My car has done over 100,000 miles and is still going strong. It very rarely lets me down. Its main drawback is the cost of the road Tax.
