The Astra has given me no trouble at all and its running costs have been very good. It's good to drive with good handling and is very comfortable. For a hatchback, the luggage area is reasonable, but probably inadequate for a family with kids. Performance is fairly good though I feel it could do with being a bit more responsive on hills in particular. Overall, I would recommend and will probably buy another when I replace this one.

I have been very satisfied with this model, apart from one or two issues, like getting my lawn-mower in the back to take it for servicing. Car runs well, is generally economical and has efficient heating and ventilation. Reasonable automatic acceleration.

I've only had this Astra for a few weeks, and in all aspects except one I am very happy with it so far. Obviously in that short time my reliability score is a little meaningless. My previous Astra, a 2001 1.7TD did over 60 mpg, but this new one struggles to do over 50 mpg. I'm very disappointed at this aspect as I hoped the engine would have been improved. The performance is similar to my old Astra. Inside, the cup holder is in a stupid place(!) , the button to replace the handbrake is a ridiculous idea, and the instrument panel is a little cluttered. However, I still like the car a lot and would recommend it providing you can accept the poorer economy.

Good car to drive a bit noisy at times and not much room in the back But all in all a good car and I would have another one. But as I drive a lot of business miles I would go up to next model. If I continue in this job. But I am happy with Vauxhall

Excellent performance, ease of overtaking especially in the 40 - 70 mph range. Very good economy, 50+ on ordinary A and B roads, 47 average on motorways at 80 mph. Firm ride but not uncomfortable on any surface, handling very good, minimal understeer and good throttle adjustability in bends. Car now 20 months old, no failures, no sign of wear or damage on any part of interior. Good size boot, plenty of front passenger space, easy access to rear, front seats tilt and slide one-handed and return to set position. Excellent car, beautiful shape, I would definitely buy another.

I have had this car for about five years and its never let me down . I find it very practical for all my needs and quite comfortable. The only money I have spent on my astra is on general wear and tear items I.e tyres exhaust and the odd lamp. In my view a good buy.

Having looked at a number of rag tops,I found the astra to have the biggest boot in its class. It is also very economical the only problems have been sensors ,choke & throttle sensors have let me down so far,all very expensive to replace.

Is well mainained so has maximum performance and reliability for its type. It is fairly expensive to run and it's comfort level suits me.

Although I am reasonably satisfied with the car, I have had problems with the "Service Soon" warning light coming on for no apparent reason. The 1ST time was after a service and I presumed they had failed to reset the reminder, this was done and seemed ok. A few months later it started flashing on again. I took it back in, they said they had plugged in the computer but could find no fault, so had reset the warning and gave the car back. The light flashed on again the next day, and about 5 times in the next few weeks. I took it in again and this time they say, the computer had reported overheating. This was traced to a faulty sensor, and has now been replaced. Hopefully the car will now be ok, but I can't help wondering why the fault was not picked when I took it in at first.

A good car in many ways, although the running costs (29 miles per gallon average on local journeys, and only 33mpg on longer journeys) is a drawback. Informed by Vauxhall that this is due to a heavier chassis than the previous model - which averaged 35 miles (local) and 40 miles (longer journeys).

I am now on my fourth Astra. I am especially impressed with the road-holding and find them very easy to drive. My previous one was a 1600 Estate with automatic transmission. I needed a large car for my 3 dogs and chose an automatic because I had been living for several years on a small Caribbean island and didn't fancy my chances of coping with the busy, fast, urban British roads and using a gear stick at the same time - a wise choice! When my large old dog died 2 years ago I downsized to a Hatchback with manual transmission and the improvement in my petrol consumption was dramatic. The rear screen wiper is also much easier to switch off than in earlier versions. In between my Astras I have had a couple of Ford Escorts but didn't really like either of them, whereas I love my Astra - not quite as much as I love my dogs, but nearly!

More than this...it is a good cross country runner. I maintain it seasonally and keep it in top condition with very good service..excellent silicone oil change every summer and winter. It is engine tuned to meet seasonal requirements. This cars reliability far out ways its downside which is the lack of sporty style and remains on an interior level rather basic to other models I have purchased. The dashboard could be more ergo dynamic. The plus to all this is its easy to understand fittings and uncomplicated visually simple control panels. Great car and ...Vauxhall...parts are relatively easy to replace should the need arise

This is my 4th Astra and I have been pleased with the reliability and comfort of them all. They have been secure and strong when involved in road accidents. The only negative with my current vehicle is that it can struggle in higher gears to go up inclines unless speed has been built up previously.

Down sized from Vectra but found this car economical, comfortable and practical for our small family. Having to make regular visit to shops and hospitals from our countryside home it is a very good car to buy and run at at a reasonable cost.

The Astra 1400 club is very underpowered 3 people up a hill it suffers from lack of power. Fuel consumption is not good 40 to 45 m.p.g. Tyre road noise at lower speeds is bad. Performance seems adiquate at speeds over 40m.p.h. but from a standing start acceleration is poor.I would not buy this model again.

The Vauxhall Astra is not the cheapest car to run, however, it is stylish, very comfortable, an easy ride and extremely reliable. My current model is the third consecutive Vauxhall Astra I have had from new, which is saying loudly and clearly that I happily recommend it to anyone,

I have had this car since new and it has been very reliable. I have it serviced and MOT'D every year and the staff at Arnold Clark, Dock Street have been most efficient.
