Most economic car I have ever had. Reliable - cheap to run - comfortable - and has never let me down.

My Vectra has let me down only three times in the eight years I have owned it. You have to watch out for renewing the cam belt at major service intervals. This model is fitted with a rubberised cam belt rather than a timing chain. If that fails, it totally wrecks the engine and some insurers will write off the car. Mine failed because I didn't know about this.I was able to have it repaired, but better safe than sorry. The clutch cable went on one occasion and I had to replace the original battery pack. The AA sorted both repairs for me. This is a good car, runs well and starts easily. It is not quite as good as the SRi Cavalier which I owned before, but it is not bad. Like all Vauxhall cars, it has a roomy boot. The back seat folds down to accommodate almost anything. I have carried large armchairs, new house doors, chopped up conifer trees, mobility scooters and bicycles in this car. I would recommend it totally.

A bit pricey

Some people might rate the Vectra as a bog standard and medium performance car. That is what makes it a good car. It has satisfactory performance, good luggage space and is comfortable on long journeys and I have never had a breakdown. Will be sorry to replace this car.

Has had niggling faults which took a long time for the main dealer to diagnose. Inlet manifold flap caused poor fuel economy until replaced at high cost. Air-con leaks. Several problems with broken and then noisy front and rear springs. Rear visibility poor when reversing.

I have had the car from new it drives well and is very comfortable on long journeys it is a great workhorse and it as never let me down (touch wood)I have carried all sorts of things in it was shopping to rubbish the only reason I would sell or replace it is if I decide to buy a smaller car but at the moment im very happy with it

Generally speaking I am very satisfied with this car. The only downside is the fuel consumption. It is heavy on fuel. I only get <>30. Mpg.

Good engine with instant response. Excellent brakes. Automatic gearbox pretty average and over sensitive to changing down unnecessarily when the engine's torque is perfectly adequate. Suspension average. road holding probably a bit below average by today's standards with the car not very well balanced. Car build fairly average. Interior equipment reasonable. Interior and boot space quite good. Reliability very good.

I enjoy the looks, comfort, space and reliability of the Vectra. It's an enjoyable car with reasonable costs. Like any car, it has its flaws but I overlook them for the many positive points.

A spacious car with all modern toys; digital radio, heated mirrors etc. There is lots of space in the boot so that even with 3 operations bags and 2 or 3 bergens there is never any need to have things in the saloon part of the car. I mostly achieve 43 mpg so am very happy with the performance.

Performance and running costs as expected for type of car (30+ mpg around town, up to 50mpg on a run). Only issue with reliability has been the aircon stopped working and not due to needing a recharge. Found it very comfortable on short and long journeys. Being a hatchback good for transporting kids and all their paraphernalia (including pushbikes in the boot with the back seat down) to uni and back.

Good car, economical but with sufficient power to get out of trouble. Comfortable on long journeys and plenty of space. Only let down by some big bills partly due to age. Suspension all replaced over last 5 years plus one wheel bearing.

Had tow bar/trailer stability & self leveling factory fitted from new, can,t fault it. spacious leg room all round, being one of the large estate cars meets all my needs. 150 BHP also meets all the power I need.

I bought my car with 130,000 miles on the closk and over the last 3 years put over 50,000 more on it. It has been reliable, comfortable and extreemly economical (50mpg is my usual average - diesel) It is a saloon, so not quite as pratical as I ideally want. Great design touches throughout though and good kit - cruise control, elecrochromatic rear view mirror, rain sensitive wipers, 6 air bags, stability control, ABS, adaptive rear lights, and an indicator on the dash for when a bulb has blown. I just hate the stupid electronic indicators!!!

Although the 120PS Life estate can be a little under powered when fully laden, for normal day to day use the power is adaquate. The large tailgate opening and almost box like rear load area make the vehicle extremely practical. With the rear seats folded down I have been able to carry a double divan bed and matteress. The Life model being the lowest model in the range is resonably equiped with electrically adjusted & heated door mirrors, electric front windows, power steering, alarm system & cruise control. My particular example came with the optional roof rails, alloy wheels and colour navigation system. Although this facelifted Vectra C is a modern CANBUS wired vehicle it is possible to upgrade the cars equipment with equipment levels from higher spec models. (This updating is not endorsed by Vauxhall and you would need to advise your insurance supplier of any upgrades). Running costs I would say are on par with most other vehicles of the same specification. MPG is as usual not as good as stated in the brochure, but I am averaging approx 44 MPG with my driving style.
