I wasn't bothered about getting this car but I enjoy driving it. it is small and still goes well. it turns on a sixpence and uses far less fuel than my other small cars did. The seat is uncomfortable for me and I have to organise a wedge cushion. I wish the back seat was a split collapsible when I need it down sometimes.

Not a bad car, nice to drive although it's not exciting. I don't think the MPG was as advertised and i'm a bit disapointed with that however I would buy a newer model if I needed to buy a new car.

Good value for money, reliability, running costs., etc. On the whole, would not opt for any other brand.

For a smaller car it is a joy to drive anywhere, comfortable and reliable, and I would not hesitate to buy another one when the time comes.

I have driven my VW polo for nearly 15 years... with very few issues. Whenever I need it it works! It can fit a surprising amount of stuff in it and yet for a small car does not feel crammed or flimsily built. I have looked after it mind you. annual services etc. If you look after something it will look after you. Also by driving the smallest car you need, parking is easier, insurance etc is cheaper too! I love my car!

A great little car that has rendered excellent, although not necessarily the most economical (gives about 40 mpg urban cycle), service to me for almost 2 years. It has been extremely reliable, has good road holding, and most certainly meets my needs as a runabout for long and short distances alike.

The Polo is a great wee car for economy and the 1.2 engine is surprisingly responsive if you use the gears effectively. It feels safe and stable to drive, even at speed or in wet or windy conditions and grips the road well on bends. I live in a remote, rural area and make lots of short, local journeys with occasional longer journeys of 120-250 miles so the petrol engine is ideal. I get 370-400 miles out of a full tank. My basic model is short on luxuries but starts well in winter and seats 4 comfortably with reasonable leg-room in the back although it feels much heavier to drive when fully laden and is a squash for 5 adults. My last car was an estate and if I'd had more choice when looking for a second-hand replacement, would have preferred another estate as the boot area in the Polo is limited. My large labrador dog only just fits in which means luggage has to go on the back seat when I visit family. If I didn't have the dog, it would be adequate and is more spacious than most small cars. It's a great size for easy parking and I would recommend the Polo for either urban or rural use but it's more suitable for a single person/couple than a family unless children are young. My car is 9 years old but there's not a spot of rust on the body and I've only had to spend around £200 on it in the 2 years I've had it.

Great car. Been in the family since new. Both children learnt to drive in it. 14 years old now. No power steering, no central locking, no electric windows, no abs breaks. But, hey, that is just less to go wrong. No rust either!

I've found the polo noisy from wind and the engine.

Excellent, reliable, economical and comfortable on long journeys After travelling 370 miles I no longer have a stiff back as with some other non-VW cars.

My VW Polo is an excellent small car. Ideal in town and country. A dog guard allows me to carry a German Shepherd guide dog to events and "Free running" areas for his owner. Excellent small car.

I 've had my diesel polo for seven years and it has been very reliable. It tackles steep hills and rough tracks with great stamina. I mainly commute with it (160miles per week) and weekend local shopping. Motorway journeys are less frequent..maybe five a year and the car goes like a dream. Boot size is ideal for shopping and the back seats fold down to give ample space for really large items. Seats are adjustable and comfortable, all round visibility is good. Servicing at local garage isn't too expensive and fuel consumption seems reasonable, topping up half a tank a fortnight. I have done a Motorway journal of 600 miles on one tank. Great all round good looking car.

The car has proved very reliable. The only criticisms I have are that: with no spare wheel, I had to call the AA for rescue. I have now purchaes a spare. there have been two occasions when the car has given a false warning of trouble, due to faults with the detectors. It is very economical to run, and comfortable. The driving position is excellent. Rustproofing is also very good.

This is a small neat car that is very economical, if driven in an economical manner. Average combined fuel consumption (given that most short journeys are in a very hilly area) is 73.2 mpg over a measured 2000 miles. A number of regular longer journeys (on level roads) achieve over 85 mpg. The performance is what you would expect for a 1.4D. There is not much low range power, but above 3000 rpm it is nippy and responsive. Build quality and reliability are what you would expect from a VW; but in the interest of weight saving for fuel economy reasons it is not well equipped. All in all, if you want a good, reliable and economical car that is not too big or luxurious this is the one to get. It is cheaper and more economical than a Prius and most other Hybrids.

MY CAR IS NOT YET 3 YEARS OLD AND IT IS GOING IN FOR THE 7TH WARRANTY REPAIR NEXT WEEK. BY FAR IT IS NOT THE WORST POLO I HAVE HAD AND I HATE THE DEALER.I WILL MAKE AN EFFORT TO CHOOSE ANOTHER DEALER AND ANOTHER MANUFACTURER FOR MY NEXT CAR.

my only gripe about the car is the fuel gauge... one minute you have 1/4 tank the next its empty, it reduces in blocks which was unlike my VW Golf. Apart from that its a good little runabout

I changed my car in 2011 because my previous car was beginning to cost a lot to repair. My previous car had a 2.8 engine and the petrol was costly so I reviewed my new car on running costs. I have found the Polo to be economical and efficient to run

Excellent for town driving - nippy and easy to park. Surprisingly good for long journeys despite small engine as long as just one or two passengers. Generally cheap to run and reliable.

I have owned this car for 13 years and have found it completely economical, reliable and dependable. Although bought to drive in the city it has coped more than adequately with its move to the rural life, despite it's small engine size.
