I bought this car taking the above ratings in to consideration from purchase in 2005 up to the present it has never let me down.it is regularly serviced and is very economical to run I would rate it as excellent in my review

We bought our current car this year as a 1 year old ex hire car. We upgraded from a similar sized ageing Fiesta. On all areas, with the possible exception of luggage space, it is a vast improvement; more comfortable, safer, better designed seats, more reliable and more robust. The one big thing that I like is the small raised step in the floor panel on the driver's side. This may sound daft but it makes for a more comfortable driving position on long journeys. My only slight niggle is that the boot is slightly shorter, front to back, than the Fiesta. (I sell cakes and my carrying boxes don't fit in so easily.) The advantage over the Fiesta though is that the floor is almost level at the back making it easier to slide things in, plus the seats go down flat. On the whole I would definitely recommend this car.

A good little car, very similar inside to the little Audi A1. The boot space isn't great as the false floor introduces some plastic brackets to the sides of the boot that make it difficult to get 2 medium sized suitcases inside. The interior layout is good. The fuel economy on the petrol version is pretty good too

The VW Polo is a fantastic small car. The mileage we get is in excess of 50 mpg. The car is very comfortable, even on long journeys, and on holidays, by folding down the seats (which split) we manage to fit in a generous amount of luggage. The car is really well balanced and reliable. We would happily have another Polo when we look to change the car.

lovely small car but plenty of room inside, only downside is lack of leg room in the back if carrying adults but fine for children and most important bit plenty of space in the boot

Excellent car which we bought new. Never had any major problems with it, it is very fuel efficient, reliable and comfortable. Great for driving to work each day over 20 miles and now we are retired still suits us. Would always recommend this car but then volkswagons are well made and reliable.

I bought this car nearly five years ago from a private seller at 81k on the clock. It is now around 153k on the clock today. It is as reliable today as it was when I first got it. I sometimes skip the regular milage interval service to annual calendar service with no problem so far. It has out-performed it expectation many times. Going through floods successfully, coping fairly well in snow time than some hybrid 4x4 cars was a real surprise to me. I'm hoping to replace it with another newer model, just because of the reliability and outstanding performance, low cost maintenance and easy of parking in almost any tight space for a standard car.

The polo is a reliable small car good to park and manoeuvrable in traffic. The running costs are reasonable and so far the 5 polos that I have owned have all been a good buy and fit for purpose!

It may be old and not have power steering, but it's a pleasure to drive.

This is my 3rd Polo and I love how safe they are for a small car. They are very reliable - my last 2 cars I sold at 14 years old, they both only failed MOTs on inexpensive items costing maximum of £30-40 and are still going strong! Love this model with the 3 full rear seat belts and head rests which is perfect as my family are growing up as their heads and necks are more protected. It's my first car with power assisted steering and that makes long distance driving so much easier. Insurance is cheap, tax a good price and it's economical fuel-wise too. I am a total Polo fan and don't want another make EVER!

It does what it says on the tin and is quite robust for its size. It is however gutless and is not a motorway cruiser. Insurance group 2 and tough -- good for young drivers.

Comfortable for local and motorway driving. Clear control panels. Spacious enough for five people. Good acceleration. Sporty looking car. Good sized boot but perhaps a bit better designed storage space in the car would be an improvement e.g. door pockets, glove compartment. Excellent finish on bodywork.

Economic to run. Unusual foibles regarding parking, but apart from that good.

I have had this car from new and it has been excellent, but the running costs are now fairly high but would recommend a Polo to anyone wanting a nice little run around.

I changed my car from a VW Vento 2.8 to a Polo for economy but was slightly concerned about how I would cope with the downsizing in engine size however I have not found this to be a problem and have been really pleased with how much more ecomonic it is to run.

This is a great little car. Above all the practicality of the design is outstanding - it has capabilities of a much larger car. My only minus is that I would not like to use this car for really long journeys (6+ hours)
