Needed to raise my spirits after redundancy so bought a new Ford Focus. It is a 999cc 125ps petrol with turbo. I have never had so much power from such a small engined car. The technical stuff was impressive as well and easy to use. It is very comfortable and easy to drive. All in all a fine vehicle which I would recommend to any one,

We've only had the car since June but it is excellent. It is nearly the top of the market model so is bursting with technology. It is very quiet and has overcome my idea that diesel engines run like tractors. It is very economical to run and a tank of fuel seems to last for ages. The air conditioning is very effective and doesn't appear to run away with the fuel. It has plenty of power for us, in fact, you have to rein it in to avoid breaking the speed limit. After doing around 4,000 miles, we have no complaints. Our only problem has been to find a 7mm hex key to convert the head lamps for continental driving. No set includes one. The one big improvement might be to provide a cd with the instruction manual. Some of that is overcomplicated and difficult to understand. There is a plethora of buttons in the cockpit and a demonstration as to what they do and a better explanation of the way to access menus would not come amiss. I'm sure that we haven't made full use of all technology yet. I would thoroughly recommend this car.

Unimpressed with a Ford car having an unreliable Peugeot engine. When looking for a replacement turbo I had many companies saying they would not stock for that engine as it was known to be unreliable. However it did drive down to the Spanish Pyrenees and back with a non-working turbo which had gone less than a year from the previous replacement. I have been advised to get rid of the car before it goes again. Unimpressed by the front lock on the bonnet which does not work and has had to be removed. The mechanic told me he has had to do this a number of times to these cars, the lock collects dust and dirt so that the key cannot turn it. Otherwise it is the size, shape and performance that I want. It has sufficient space for my camping gear and for me to sleep in the car when needed. Or it can take a friend and a couple of large dogs. Or I can sling a couple of bicycles in the back. The back seats are just about always down to provide this space.

Reliable, low cost, easy to manoeuvre, big enough for growing family. All windows not working and back windscreen wiper.

Since purchasing the car two years ago it has met all my expectations in terms of comfort, performance, reliability and economy

Practical car with a couple of nice 'extras' such as air conditioning and a magic button by the steering column that unlocks the boot without having to get out of the car. On the downside, changing the headlight and sidelight bulbs is an absolute nightmare.

This is our second Focus. However, the first had parking sensors which were great but this second one hasn't and we do miss them.

My current Focus is the second I've had. It delivers comfortable motoring, with decent fuel economy and the performance is adequate for me, though slow speed acceleration is modest. Motorway cruising is better. Its only faults (under warranty) were a faulty engine sensor and a faulty central lock on a rear door. Build and paint quality seem good enough, however I dont keep cars over 4 years old so that's not usually a concern. The visibility when parking is not great... in that the view from the mirrors and windows is deceptive. (Looks like you are closer to objects behind, in front and at each side of the car than you actually are!) Other owners have expressed this opinion to me also. My favourite feature in winter is the heated windscreen... I may buy another Focus next time, but would opt for more power.

My Focus may be ancient but it has never failed its MOT and has given me years of economical, reliable service. I feel safe driving in it. Inevitably, it is now beginning to show signs of age eg. rust and will increasingly be costing me money to set right so I'll probably have to get some other car in the next few years...but I'll be doing well to get another car as good and suitable for me.

compared to all my previous cars, which were petrol, this diesel is equal in performance but by far more economical
