excellen5t car in all respects.

although I haven't had a problem with the running of the car, it has never broken down. The catch for the boot broke and is expensive to replace. I have seen others with the same problem. My main gripe is with aftercare. We had a problem with a warning light when the car was new and under warranty but the renault garage where unwilling to remedy it. Even writing to renault I was just told it was up to the dealer how they dealt with it. It was never resolved and has now cost me a substantial amount to repair as the MOT regs have now changed. The warning light made it fail.It also takes on water in heavy rain a then drip feeds it into the passenger foot well (again other renault owners have had the same)

Had the car for 15years since new. Cannot find a car to match it - even the new ones

Had this car secondhand for several years, reasonably pleased with maintenance and performance (but wish I still had a 4x4). But bodywork, especially the front end, is so fragile. Twice I have broken the radiator grill and supports when a pheasant has run in front of the car and impossible to avoid.

This vehicle was purchased to replace 2 other vehicles; a jaguar X-Type and a L/R Freelander. Its purpose was to provide cheaper motoring yet still give a comfortable and economical ride. This it does with aplomb. Not able to provide the same space as the Jaguar estate, it still is a very capable load-lugger and very adequately serves my 'heavy haulage' needs. Where the vehicle shines is in long distance journeys where it has been able to alter my driving style to one of a more relaxed nature. I am now more content to arrive with a high MPG reading on the digital dash panel than I am to arrive in the shortest time possible. Having now got used to the digital speedometer, it is very difficult to justify, even to oneself, exceeding any speed limit by 'just a few MPH.

Has a known problem with ignition coils which need regular replacement. Annoying but manageable. Lovely smooth ride and loads of space for carrying stuff when the back seats are down and tipped forwards. Done 115,000 miles so far and still going. Bodywork perfect after 11 years - and I don' really take much care if it!

Have owned this family wagon for three years now between 33k and 65k miles. Only problem is boot release button fell out, which is a common fault on them. Easy DIY fix with eBay kit. It's practical, roomy and if driven smoothly I can get nearly 40mpg out of it.

Spacey and generally comfortable. Nice to drive but rear seats rattle! Very irritating!

This car is consitantly reliable. With help from my local garage we have kept this car on the road without interval by basic servicing and repairs at MOT time. It is heavy on brakes and needs parts replaced bi-annually. Bodywork is very well protected against corrosion and the interior is hard wearing. Interior comfort is good, visibility excellent. MPG around town is above 30mpg and fully laden on a long run can achieve almost 40mpg. Parts availability is good. There are still a number of well looked after, low mileage, 1 owner examples out there and you could get a decent car for under £1000.

this is my 4th scenic and have always been highly satisfied, however, the seating in the new model is not as comfortable as in the previous models. The back seats in particular seem narrower than before making it a tight squeeze for adults The front seats seem to have high ridges in them making them uncomfortable

look I dont have time to spill my guts... but I have had 9 Renaults in 14 years and I love them for comfort and FUN to drive.. and all the little storage compartments... the 120hp engine on a 1.9 DCI is very powerful when you most need it.. and great on Economy, I average 48 MPG comfortably.. just a bit too overcomplicated and designed electronically... too many weak links to go wrong... otherwise a Joy to own and Drive.. water leak issues... poor insulation against water.. but as long as it drives, I feel proud to be seen in it..

I have driven the scenic for 133,000 miles with nominal faults. Regular servicing has proved worthwhile and the car still returns 37 miles per gallon around town. The stowage internaly is great but I jhave looked at more recent styles with dismay so an reluctant to change.

On the whole not a bad car with lots of space inside, it has good visibility all round with good fuel consumption but the down sides are, noisy and high revving and under powered especially with four people in the car.

I bought the car second hand and was not particularly looking for this make and model of car. It was just what came along! I have been really surprised how good it is to handle. It is a good town car, easy to park and negotiate narrow spaces. However, it comes into its own when touring. With its 6 forward gears it performs brilliantly on the motorway. Being higher up than most cars with the massive front windscreen and side windows, it is truly scenic and is great to drive through picturesque countryside. The information on the dash board is very clear and easily read. You can change the speed from MPH to Kilometres for continental driving, so that you are not peering at a speedometer trying to work it out. The seats are very comfortable and adjust easily. I do not have young children, but the rear seats with the hidden drawers and compartments plus the let down airline style trays must be a joy for kids to keep their possessions, with the little adjustable mirror for the parents in the front to keep an eye on them

The scenic is an easy, comfortable car. So far it has been reliable and I've had no problems with it. Its averages 29.5 m/ gallon which could be better but all told has been a good, family work horse.

Never had a better car, if I am going to replace it I will stick to the same make and model. They are so versatile and comfortable it's unbelievable.

All electric windows fail - £2k Small electrical fire in door panel - Churchill refuse to cover as it is a "manufacturer's fault". Dashboard electronics fail and unit has to be replaced. Engine management system always throwing out warnings. Renault electrics are not fit for purpose. Having said that their customer service has been proactive through a decent dealer - Rogate Garage - and generous. Anchor Renault at Liphook is the opposite - poor service and overcharging to the point of dishonesty.

In terms of practicality it is the best car I have had - so much secure (i.e. hidden) storage space for dvd players DVDs CDS etc.

This is a great family car, loads of space in the car and the boot. Panoramic windscreen means visability is excellent and it is very comfortable to drive. Only bad point is that it isn't very economical with petrol.

Apart from a design fault with the Exhaust sensor and ABS wheel sensors, all which have been repeatedly replaced, the MK1 Renault Scenic has been very reliable. This appears to be a common problem with French electronics. The only other problem has been a replacement of HT Leads. It is a comfortable, practical and very reliable car, that has never broken down in 110,000 miles over 12yrs. However, apparently the later models of the Megane Scenic are nowhere as reliable as mine !
